Spring/Summer Digital Arts Internship For Teachers

Tertl Studos LLC of Montpelier, VT, announces an internship opportunity in mobile game development.
The position is open immediately to elementary, middle, and high school teachers, as well as pre-service teaching trainees. Funded by the National Science Foundation, it affords an opportunity for challenging, creative work within an R&D business startup context. This position is a job, not a training course.
Where, When, and How Much
Location: Montpelier, VT. Must meet/work
on location at least twice per week.
Starts: Immediately. Continues through
June 2011, with possible extension through August.
Hours: 100 hours or more, spread over
April-June.
Pay: $25/hr
Requirements
Required skills include exceptional proficiency in graphics and digital art; mastery of colors, textures, and composition; and two-dimensional animation (primarily graphic effects animation).
Additional desirable skills include:
— facility with Illustrator, Photoshop, and/or Flash
— knowledge of computer games (especially mobile games) and game design
— experience in commercial digital-game production
The Work
You will join a development team building a mobile software app that draws children and adults into playing with a small number of fundamental ideas about computer programming via a gameplay experience that is highly accessible and aesthetically rich. Your role is to work with our in-house artist to imbue the game with a unique, joyful visual style; and to apply your understanding of how people of all ages play and learn. Duties include co-development of art style; production of backgrounds and animated elements (developed as a combination of digital and paper-based originals); and play testing with kids.
